WE LOVE THE SAN DIEGO PADRES
With ideal weather year-round and a scenic location it’s no wonder why people flock to visit San Diego. Each year, major music acts and festivals come into town and sell-out the areas major venues. San Diego is also known as a sports town, with the San Diego Padres being the main draw. Whether you’re attending a game or a concert, the San Diego Marriott Mission Valley puts you within easy access of all the action.
Qualcomm Stadium is a five-minute drive from the San Diego Marriott Mission Valley. A classic stadium designed for football, Qualcomm Stadium has hosted several Super Bowls and also plays host to the annual NCAA Holiday Bowl and Poinsettia Bowl. The San Diego Aztecs college football team also calls Qualcomm home. During the off-season Qualcomm Stadium features live concerts and special events.
Once known as the “San Diego Sports Arena,” Valley View Casino Center is a classic venue that first opened in 1966. Over the decades the center has been home to several sports and sports teams, including hockey, basketball, tennis, boxing, and indoor soccer. Today, the Valley View Casino Center is best known for its live musical acts and has hosted some of the most popular artists like Taylor Swift, U2, Carrie Underwood, and Selena Gomez. The Valley View Casino Center is just a short 12-minute drive from our hotel and can also easily be reached via the Green Line Trolley (which takes about 40 minutes).
Petco Park is home to Major League Baseball’s San Diego Padres. Located in Downtown San Diego, Petco Park is 15 minutes from our hotel by car. Guests of the San Diego Marriott Mission Valley can also hop on the Green Line Trolley, which drops off near the stadium. Aside from baseball, Petco Park has also hosted some of the biggest names in music. Paul McCartney, Billy Joel, The Rolling Stones, Taylor Swift, and Madonna have all performed at Petco Park.
Located on the campus of San Diego State University, Viejas Arena is less than 15-minutes from the San Diego Marriott Mission Valley. Formerly known as the Cox Arena, Viejas Arena is a popular venue for live concerts and music festivals, and has hosted acts like the Foo Fighters, Lady Gaga, Green Day and Van Halen. The facility is also the official arena for the San Diego State Aztecs NCAA basketball teams, and has hosted the NCAA basketball tournament.
The Sleep Train Amphitheatre is a large, 20,000-seat venue located in Chula Vista, California. The open-air amphitheatre features chair and lawn seating and is widely used for concerts in the spring and summer. Only 19 miles from our hotel, the Sleep Train Amphitheatre is less than a 30-minute drive. Owned by Live Nation, it hosts some of the best and biggest live music acts. Recent performers include Jason Aldean, Weezer, Brad Paisley, Nicki Minaj, Linkin Park, and the Dave Matthews Band.
